I retorted that I had already purchased a shirt this year so I was no longer in the market, but that didn't stop her from pulling several out that I "just had to at least look at!"
I walked in to the store looking to buy shorts,i was not greeted or helped. The employees did not acknowledge me at all they looked me in the eyes but did not smile or asked if i am doing ok.

This girl was a whirlwind of activity, taking care of several different customers at any given time and cheerfully answering questions, steering the customers from one area of the store to the next and coming up with all sorts of options for them to look at once she had a handle on their particular tastes. When she eyed Howard and I standing near the men's sale rack she pounced on us and prompted us to "just take a look...the sale prices are great!"

Whatever she does, and wherever she ends up...she is a shining example of why that old "kids have no work ethic" is no more alive today then it was when Caesar was tooling around in his chariot and hearing the townies rambling on about how Julius will never amount to anything!
Being 64, I now get to hear "my generation" bemoan the lack of work ethic of the younger generation......having totally forgotten the so called lack of work ethic my generation was said to have in the 60s and 70s. In fact, I do believe the 1st quote of the lack of work ethic on record comes from a Senator in then world dominant empire called Rome.
During a lull in her mad dash about the store I pinned her down to ask what kind of commission they paid at the store only to find out that they are hourly. In other words, this young 23 year old dynamo didn't have to work at the level she did, she didn't have to take the time to make two old timers feel good about a youngster even noticing us standing in the store.
During my brief conversation with her I found that she has aspirations to become an actress.
This weekend I had 2 friends in from Pittsburgh and we ended up at one point in our travels up at the Montage Shoppes and eventually American Eagle Outfitter. As Cyndi and Mythien tried on clothes I was amazed by one of the sales reps there. I am pretty sure I have her name right: Natalie.
"kids these days...they don't want to work!"
